Frequently Asked Questions
What is a spray tan?
A spray tan is a form of sunless tanning that does not involve the use of harmful UV rays. Spray tan solution uses an active ingredient called dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which interacts with the amino acids in the top layer of the skin to produce a temporary change in color.
How does a spray tan work?
A spray tan is applied as a fine mist over the body and face. The DHA settles into the top layer of the skin over the course of a few hours. During this drying time, it’s crucial to avoid moisture on the skin such as sweat or liquid of any kind. The initial color of the tan is a cosmetic bronzer that will rinse off during your first shower. Your rinse time will be decided upon during your appointment based on the level of tan you desire.
How long does a spray tan last?
Spray tans are temporary, typically lasting 5-10 days based on factors such as skin type, prep/aftercare, and post tan activities (excessive sweating, exfoliation, swimming). They gradually fade as the top layer of the skin naturally sheds.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Prepare for your tan by showering, shaving/waxing, and exfoliating at least 12 hours before your appointment. Come to your appointment free from makeup, lotion, and deodorant.
How do I care for my spray tan?
Moisturize and stay hydrated to extend the life of your tan. For best results, avoid exfoliating, swimming, and excessive sweating.
When should I spray tan?
Getting married or in a wedding? It’s recommended to spray tan 2-3 days before your event to allow the tan to fully develop and settle into your skin.
